Apple stealthily hikes iPad Pro price — Is Brexit to blame? Sep 13th 2017, 14:02, by James Laird Apple sneakily hiked the price of some iPad Pro models, following the iPhone launch event on Tuesday. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro 512GB Wi-Fi now costs £969. That's up a whopping £80 on the £889 Apple was advertising before the event on Tuesday. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro 256GB is also up from its June release price of £719, to £769. Related: Best tablets Apple has not announced any changes to the iPad models that would merit such a price hike, so it all appears a little arbitrary. Perhaps Apple is having to pay more for the components for the iPad Pro models and passing that on to the consumer? Perhaps it has decided margins on the professional tablets aren't wide enough? Either way, it makes the $329/£339 iPad 9.7-inch model seem even better value. If you don't need the Pro features, this is unquestionably the model to go for. Brexit to blame? Perhaps not While Brexit might be an obvious explanation for the steep rise, Apple has also bumped the price of the same models in the United States. The 512GB iPad Pro is now $999, up from $949. That's a less step hike, but a hike nonetheless. We've reached out to Apple for confirmation on the price hike and will update this article if a response is forthcoming.
