Best iPhone X Cases: Protection for your super-expensive smartphone
Sep 13th 2017, 14:30, by Simon Osborne-Walker

The iPhone X is an impressive-looking phone. Also an impressively priced phone. So, naturally, having blown a grand on your new shiny Apple toy, you'll want to keep it nice.

Thankfully the accessories market has been beavering away, ready to supply cases before you can even get your hands on the smartphones to go in them.

Here's a selection of the best iPhone X cases we've seen so far…

Mous Limitless iPhone Cases

This range of impressive cases provides your iPhone X with military-grade protection, whether it happens to accidentally topple off a desk or slip from your clumsy fingers.

It's also incredibly slim, and comes in a variety of tasty finishes, such as wood, leather and marble. The latter will go perfectly with the statue of yourself that you can probably afford to commission if you've got the top-end 256GB iPhone X incoming.

Set to retail from £29.99, you'll be able to pick one up here.

Proporta Carbon Ultra Flash

Carbon fibre is super-strong, but also light and thin. Perfect for a case, in other words. The Proporta Carbon Ultra will only add 2mm to your iPhone X's backside, while offering a whole heap of extra protection. This Flash version also features a layer of resistive leather near the bottom, to give a grippier surface for a more secure hand-hold.

The Carbon Ultra Flash costs £20/$30 from Proporta.

Proporta Carbon Opus

If you fancy the carbon-fibre protection of the Ultra Flash above, but with the additional screen covering of a folio case, Proporta's Carbon Opus might be the choice for you.

The space-age weave is covered in luxurious, soft-touch nappa leather, and the securely fitting screen protector can be folded into a stand for a spot of Netflix bingeing.

The Carbon Opus costs £30/$39 from Proporta.

Greenwich Walker Alcantara

Alcantara is the material of the moment. After decades of only really being used on fancy seats in boy-racers' cars, it's recently been given renewed cachet by Microsoft, who used it on the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop keyboards.

And now luxury brand Greenwich has chosen this durable material for its top-end iPhone X folio case, the Walker. Delve beneath the impeccably tailored Alcantara, though, and you'll also discover a shotgun-proof carbon-fibre lining. Clay-pigeon shooters, we got you covered.

You can buy the gorgeous Walker for £159 directly from Greenwich. If that's a little too rich for you, however… Well, maybe you should've bought a cheaper phone, eh? But, nevertheless, the range starts from £95.

X-Doria Defense Lux

The Defense Lux comes with a carbon fibre or leather back, but we're rather fond of the ballistic nylon in the pic below. Sounds like it could take a bullet – which is just the protection we demand if we're dropping £1000 on a smartphone.

The Defense Lux costs £29.99/$34.99 directly from X-Doria.

GEAR4 Piccadilly

Just want a clear case that lets Apple's styling shine through? The Piccadilly is one of the best such cases, and is now available for the iPhone X.

It's not totally devoid of design flair, however, with a choice of black, rose, white or gold (as shown below) accents around the edge. A UV-resistant, scratch-proof coating should ensure clarity until it's time for the iPhone XI. Or iPhone 11. Whatever.

The Piccadilly costs £29.99 from GEAR4 or Carphone Warehouse.

GEAR4 Knightsbridge

Fancy something fairly simple, but quite obviously classy? The Knightsbridge is a classy snap-on number with real leather, available in a choice of black or tan, hand-wrapped around protective layers of impact-absorbing TPU and D3O.

The Knightsbridge costs £49.99 from GEAR4 or Carphone Warehouse.
