ZTE is preparing to launch the latest smartphone from its Axon range next month. The Chinese firm has sent out invites to a media event on October 17 in New York City.
However, this time it seems the company has a few more tricks up its sleeve; namely a return to the often-tried dual screen form factor.
A recently-leaked device dubbed Axon 'Multy' previewed a clam shell smartphone that would feature two vertically aligned displays.
According to a VentureBeat report earlier this week, the Axon Multy will have two 1920 x 1080 displays on the front and rear of the device.
The would fold open to provide a 6.8-inch viewing surface and still remain thinner than 10mm, according to the leak.
The device is also rumoured to have a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
That battery pack is 3,120mAh, according to the report, while there'll be a 20-megapixel camera on the rear of the device.
The report this week claimed it will cost $650 and will be exclusive to the AT&T network in the United States.
That, and the invite itself (above), might offer a clue as pertains to the device's purpose.
Given AT&T owns the DirectTV now cord-cutting TV service, a dual-screened device could be perfect for watching TV while using another screen to conduct regular smartphone business.
The invite predicts as much with an American football on the one side, and messaging on the other. The two sides also form an M, suggesting the strange Multy name is on point.
