iOS 11 download: Apple has announced iOS 11 will be available to current iPhone and iPad owners on September 19. Here's how to download it to your device.
The update, which seeks to revolutionise the iPad interface while bringing a host of new features for iPhone owners, will come pre-installed on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
However, for current device owners, there'll be a need to download the update manually.
Apple usually releases the update around 5pm UK time (12pm EST in the US). Trusted Reviews will bring word as soon as it drops.
From there you can go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for over-the-air availability.
You could also be alerted by a push notification on your homescreen or see a red badge notification next to the Settings icon.
Regardless of how you get there, you'll see release notes for iOS 11 and a file size. You'll also be prompted to Download and Install the update.
To continue you'll need to be connected to a working Wi-Fi network and be plugged into a power source.
After tapping the prompt, you'll be ask to confirm your identity with your passcode.
The update should then commence downloading, while the progress bar will provide an estimate of the remaining time.
iOS 11 installation
Once the download is complete, the iPhone or iPad will restart a couple of times during the installation process.
Once complete, you'll see the welcome screen and may have to confirm a couple of details (Apple ID password for instance) before getting to grips with iOS 11.
If you'd prefer not to download over-the-air, iOS 11 can also be installed via iTunes by plugging your device into a Mac or PC. Apple provides full installation information on its support pages.
