The incredibly rare NES Mini is officially back in production with more consoles set to ship in 2018, Nintendo has announced.
Nintendo of Japan was the first region to make the announcement, followed closely by Nintendo of America and Europe.
The console was ridiculously hard to find when it originally launched back in 2016, with stock dwindling almost immediately after the system went on sale.
In addition to the NES Mini having more stock manufactured, Nintendo will also continue to ship units of the SNES Mini into 2018. Great news for those lacking a pre-order!
Nintendo has received ample criticism in the past for the lack of stock in regards to the NES and SNES Mini consoles, the latter of which launches on September 29.
Games Editor Brett Phipps was quite keen on the NES Mini in his original review, but had some qualms with the short controller wires:
"The NES Mini could so easily have been perfect, and it absolutely should have been. An adorable little box that includes the original Mario trilogy, Mega Man 2, Pac-Man and other greats, all looking absolutely stellar for just £50. The controller, too, feels as superb as the original."
"So it's inexplicable that the console is pretty much impossible to be set up on a TV, as a result of a short controller cable that uses a bespoke plug and a power cable that's equally short, and which doesn't come with its own power adapter."
