Nokia 2

HMD Global wants a Nokia-branded phone to suit every tier of the handset market.

From the mid-range Nokia 3 to the flagship-challenging Nokia 8, there's plenty of choice for those seeking an Android phone from the Finnish firm.

Now HMD is seeking to challenge the low-end, entry level segment with a Nokia 2 handset.

Leaked renders from @evleaks show a tidy little handset running what looks to be the pure Android operating system.

Alongside the render publication, a filing to the Federal Communications Commission in the United States revealed more details.

It appears the affordable device will have a giant 4,000mAh battery, making it larger than most flagship phones on the market.

Given what'll probably be a modest spec sheet, smaller screen and lower resolution, there's serious potential for this phone's life-force to endure for multiple days.

The FCC filing didn't give us any further information, but this phone might be shaping up as a perfect weekend phone for outdoors-folk who don't wish to risk their high end device.
